The Gates of TimeThe twin gates stand tall to respresent time before and after the moment of destruction felt at 9:02 a.m. At 9:01 a.m. the city innocently breathed its last breath prior to the horror and devestation that would be felt at 9:03 a.m.
The gently flowing water of the reflecting pool is intended to soothe wounds with calming sounds.
The field of empty chairs serves as a reminder of each life lost on that day.
Below is the beautiful 90 year-old American Elm tree left standing. The tree serves as a symbol of human resilience for all survivors.
