Oklahoma City National Memorial

Our Route 66 Road Trip ended with a visit to the OKC National Memorial. The place where the Alfred P. Murrah Building once stood now serves as a memorial honoring the victims, survivors, rescuers and many others whose lives were changed forever on April 19, 1995.

The Gates of Time

The twin gates stand tall to respresent time before and after the moment of destruction felt at 9:02 a.m. At 9:01 a.m. the city innocently breathed its last breath prior to the horror and devestation that would be felt at 9:03 a.m.
The gently flowing water of the reflecting pool is intended to soothe wounds with calming sounds.

The field of empty chairs serves as a reminder of each life lost on that day.

Below is the beautiful 90 year-old American Elm tree left standing. The tree serves as a symbol of human resilience for all survivors.

May God bless and keep you, each and everyone near and far that this tragedy has touched.

Route 66 Continued

We had a great "time" on our Route 66 Road Trip! Here are a couple more shots that might be worth sharing!

Sometimes when the class is out on a shoot we enlist a "tourist" to be a model for us!

Or we coax fellow classmates to be in a few of the shots for us!

Sometimes you even have to get down and dirty to get the perfect shot! There are probably 120 ways to take every shot but all in all the day was a success. A good time was had by everyone. Well, almost everyone...the moral of the story this weekend was to be sure and slow down to stop and smell the "clover"...

Weekend's almost over...

What is your idea of a perfect Sunday morning? To find those forgotten large bills tucked away in my wallet for that emergency I never needed and a flea market to discover, to find an amazing little mexican restaurant with awesome salsa & chips for lunch, drive down to the lake and watch the sun set into the water or find a delightful bed and breakfast, check-in, read all night and know that there’s no work the next day due to a snow storm during the night with thunder!!! Quick, I have to leave, I still have time to catch that sun set at the lake...
